Tiger Bill Meligari is a drummer-performer, teacher-clinician, author-publisher, producer, and Webmaster with more than 30 years experience in the drumming field. Nicknamed the “Tiger” by drum legend Joe Morello, Bill is an internationally recognized educator credited with developing a system of Tension Free Drumming™. His unique approach provides extreme power, extended endurance, precise control, and incredible speed without using tension, which has been known to cause repetitive motion injuries. Drummers from all over the globe travel to study with Bill in his state-of-the-art east coast drum studio. An in-demand clinician, Bill spreads the word about his Concepts of Tension Free Drumming™ through performances and clinics in school systems, music stores, and the world’s largest drum events such as Cape Breton International Drum Festival, KoSA, and DrumBeat Fest.

Bill has also produced a series of books and DVDs covering his Tension Free Drumming™ techniques in great detail, which has met with critical acclaim from amateur and professional drummers and drum instructors around the world.

Balancing his role as educator, Tiger Bill is a seasoned performer having played many styles of music with a variety of artists from Jazz specialists like Thad Jones to Rock ‘n’ Rollers like Vince Martell (original lead guitarist of the Vanilla Fudge). He even enjoyed a stint working with the Joe Morello Quintet. Recordings include albums with keyboard artist Rocco Ferrante and Dickie Goodman’s hit album “Jaws.”

At California’s Winter NAMM, in 2004, Bill proved the effectiveness of his Tension Free Drumming technique by winning the NAMM World’s Fastest Drummer Competition for hands and setting a record for fastest feet. This led to radio and TV appearances across the country with Tiger Bill promoting events like the NAMM World’s Fastest Drummer Competition and the NAMM Music and Sound Expo resulting in Bill gaining recognition as one of the fastest drummers in the world in that ultra rare category of being able to play at speeds in excess of 1,000 beats per minute with either his hands or feet.
Over the years, Tiger Bill continues to push the boundaries of drum education from his popular free video speed drum lessons exclusively on the DRUM! Magazine Web site to his educational cable TV show Fun With Drums, which currently airs on Comcast Cable. He also produces an annual DrumBeat Festival, which combines educational clinics and performances featuring some of the world’s greatest drummers and drum educators.
Tiger Bill currently uses and endorses SABIAN cymbals, Pro-Mark sticks, Aquarian Drumheads and practice pads, Taye drums, Axis Percussion Pedals, Pintech edrums, Hansenfutz practice pedals, Kelly SHU, and the Beatnik Rhythmic Analyzer.
